Meet Dr Stormee McCarthy (Chiropractor)
Personal Experience with Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic has changed my life, but specifically in two situations. The first was after jumping flat-footed into a public swimming pool (aged 11) and feeling that immense shock wave hit my body. I couldn’t sit down for 2 weeks until a chiropractor treated my pelvis.
The second was after a mild whiplash that left me with excruciating headaches for 5 years. In my case, the first chiropractic adjustment stopped the headache, although this isn’t always the case.
Starting My Chiropractic Career
I started working as a chiropractor in 2021 and have encountered people who experienced ‘niggles'; those who had quite severe pain; and others who just wanted ‘a quick MOT’ to ensure they were running smoothly.
My Philosophy on Wellness Care
I believe in wellness care. I love meeting someone for the first time and being able to change their life for the better. This process involves both patient and practitioner making decisions together. It is in fact a partnership, and we make you function again.
Life Outside of Chiropractic
I am blessed to live and work right on the edge of The New Forest. I love a walk in the woods. I also love a drive with my husband to a beautiful country pub for lunch, and the occasional drink. Escapism is important, and I love a good book that contains magic and mystery, especially if it is a story of good versus evil. I have a dark sense of humour at times, and consider myself to be fairly cheerful, definitely a ‘people person’.
My Role and Additional Services
My role currently includes Receptionist as well as Chiropractor. I also offer Swedish massage, Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology and a form of Dry Needling (which is similar to acupuncture), typically following on from the course of chiropractic care, but often as part of your care plan. As a separate treatment, I also offer Reiki which can help the body to relax into a very calm state.
